Suspended Glenview Pastor Finally Appears In Court
Rev. James Dokos, the suspended senior pastor of Glenview’s Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, made his first appearance before a Milwaukee County court commissioner Friday on felony theft charges.
Dokos is accused of misappropriating $110,000 from a church trust fund while at his previous posting at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Milwaukee, WI, where he served as senior pastor several years ago before being transferred to Glenview.
Dokos’ next scheduled court appearance is set for Wednesday, July 30 at 8:30 a.m. when he will be given the opportunity to plead guilty or not guilty, prosecutors said.
Dokos could face 10 years imprisonment and a $25,000 fine if convicted on the Class G felony charges.
Dokos had missed his previous two court appearances. He was to have appeared before a Milwaukee County court commissioner Thursday, July 10 and the following Monday, July 14.
Assistant Milwaukee County District Attorney David Feiss said he was informed Dokos had car trouble that prevented him from appearing in court on July 10 and was hospitalized on July 14.
Dokos was placed on unpaid administrative leave Friday, June 20 by Chicago Metropolis Greek Orthodox Church officials.
Metropolis officials are working with Sts. Peter and Paul church officials to find a replacement for Dokos for the Glenview congregation.
