A religious leader charged with fondling a woman at a northern Michigan casino pleaded guilty today. Bishop Demetri Khoury oversees about 45 Antiochian Orthodox Christian churches is eight states, including Michigan. Prosecutors charged him last July with fondling a woman at Turtle Creek Casino in Williamsburg and being drunk and disorderly. The crime was caught on a casino surveillance camera. Shortly after his arrest, the bishop issued a statement blaming his actions on a combination of alcohol and prescription drugs. He claims to have no knowledge of his actions but confessed to the crime in court based on the video. Khoury faces up to one year in jail. Last summer he was barred from preaching or performing liturgies.
