Dear Orthodox News Editor:

I am writing in response to a letter written to the Editor of the Orthodox News by Mr. Nick Pappas, which was posted on October 15, 2001. In his letter, Mr. Pappas requests a correction to a story which reported that the former Rev. Emmanuel Koveos was serving as a chanter at the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell, Massachusetts. While it may be true that the Transfiguration Church itself never employed Koveos as a chanter he was, however, chanting for a different parish but on Transfiguration Church property.

It is absolutely and totally irrelevant to me which church community actually employed and paid Koveos while he chanted at the Transfiguration in Lowell! The fact of the matter remains that Emmanuel Koveos is a convicted child molester and sex offender and never should have been allowed to chant for, or at any church! (State of Vermont vs. Koveos Docket #398-1-97)

The parishioners at the Transfiguration should be outraged, and rightly so that this convicted felon was allowed access to their community like a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
