Ex-monk pleads not guilty in sexual assault case

AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) — Jonathan Hitt is sitting in the Blanco County Jail awaiting a hearing next month after pleading not guilty July 18 to sexually assaulting a novice monk in 1993 at Christ of the Hills Monastery.

Hitt, 47, was sentenced to 10 years in prison back in 1999 for molesting a boy at the monastery. He is set for release from TDC next year.

Hitt’s hearing is set for September 12 in Blanco County.
