Father Giorgi Mamaladze transferred to penal institution

Father Giorgi Mamaladze, Head of the Patriarchate’s Property Management Service, has been transferred to a penal institution.

He was ordered to the pre-trial detention on the basis of the motion of the Prosecutor’s Office.

Father Giorgi Mamaladze was arrested at the airport on 10 February, when he was leaving for Germany to visit the Patriarch. The cause of the detention is unknown, since the official agencies have not yet made any comments. As reported, the case has been classified as “secret.” According to Rustavi 2, Patriarch’s chief guard Soso Okhanashvili was questioned with regard to the case. Father Giorgi Mamaladze has been ordered to pre-trial detention.
