Anchorage, Alaska, April 28 – An Anchorage man will spend nine months in prison for attempting to sexually assault a 17-year-old girl.

Judge William Morse sentenced Michael Oleksa on Monday for the January incident.

Oleksa is charged with trying to rape a girl in a park after both had been drinking.

His father is Father Michael Oleksa, archpriest of Saint Innocent Orthodox Cathedral.

Besides the jail time, Oleksa will be on probation for five years and have to undergo a substance abuse evaluation.

“The other terms are that there be no direct or indirect contact with the victim, T.S., that you will have to register as a sex offender and obtain sex offender treatment. Do you understand that?” Judge Morse asked.

“Yeah,” the defendant replied.

Father Michael Oleksa was unavailable for comment.
