Archimandrite Paul Ischie was accused in 1996 of third degree sexual assault for reportedly touching the genitals of a man the priest had invited to his apartment. Ischie was 70 years old at the time.
Earlier, in 1988, Ischie pleaded guilty to a felony charge of conspiracy and 2 felony charges of aiding and assisting others to file false and fraudulent tax returns. He served 6 months in a halfway house for these crimes.
Ischie began his clerical career in the Episcopal church. Subsequently, he graduated from St. Vladimir Seminary in 1967.
Ischie is now deceased.
