Priest arrested for possessing sexually explicit material

BANGOR, Maine

(NEWS CENTER) — Bangor Police arrested a Greek Orthodox priest Monday after a woman reported that she thought she had been photographed or video recorded her without her permission or knowledge.

After investigating, police arrested and charged 52-year-old Adam Metropoulos of Bangor with violation of privacy and possession of sexually explicit material. Metropoulos is a priest in Bangor at the St. George Greek Orthodox church. He has been a priest since 2001 and used to teach high school Chemistry in Millinocket.

He is currently at the Penobscot County Jail.
