Shocking revelations about corrupted clergymen have taken the form of an avalanche and plague the Greek Orthodox Church. The General Secretary of the Greek Clergymen Association Efstathios Kollas, speaking on NET radio 105.8, launched a new series of accusations and revealed that he had informed Archbishop Christodoulos, who paid no attention, that a candidate metropolitan bishop owned a male brothel. “Few are those who cause problems to the Church and they are those who entered the Church to hide their filth and bellies,” said Father Kollas and went on to add, “I fear the ones who will undertake the task of catharsis. Who among them have pure hands to do it. I expect nothing from high priests. An ecclesiastic court should be founded consisting of bishops, married priests and the faithful.”

Giosakis’ “Grace” Reached Cyprus

In the meantime, according to an article in today’s Cypriot newspaper Politis, imprisoned Archimandrite Iakovos Giosakis appears to have extensive connections in Cyprus. As is it stated, Giosakis was the protégée of former Metropolitan Bishop Chrysanthos of Lemessos and resided in Cyprus for three years, working as a “preacher.”

Furthermore, Archbishop Christodoulos is expected to ask for the extraordinary assembly of the Hierarchy in late February in order to discuss all issues that afflict the Church, while he is continuing contacts with metropolitan bishops in an effort to scale back the crisis.
