Michael Vawter pleaded guilty to a federal charge of possession of child pornography.

Michael Vawter, a former Cub Scout leader who pleaded guilty to a federal charge of possession of child pornography, will be sentenced next week.

The 41-year-old Danville man was originally scheduled to be sentenced Friday morning in a federal courtroom in Oakland, according to the U.S. attorney general’s office. A judge ordered him back to court on Feb. 25.

Vawter could face more than a decade in federal prison plus a lifetime of supervised release, according to the attorney general’s office.

Vawter worked as an executive at San Ramon-based CCI Financial & Insurance Services. He was arrested last March after an investigation by San Ramon police and federal agents.

Detectives said they found nearly 200 videos on Vawter’s removable drive that depicted children engaged in sexual acts with adults.

Those who know Vawter said he has children and a wife and attended a local church before his arrest. Vawter worked with other family members at CCI Financial before his arrest.
