Pasonick seeks federal prison in region
SCRANTON – An attorney for Michael Pasonick, who was sentenced Friday on a bribery charge, is requesting his client to be jailed at a federal correctional institution in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Pasonick, 70, was sentenced to one year in federal prison on allegations he bribed a school official in Luzerne County.
His attorney, Joseph Sklarosky Sr., filed a motion in federal court Tuesday requesting that Pasonick be housed at the U.S. Penitentiary at Canaan in Waymart, Wayne County.
The high-security facility is about 20 miles east from Scranton.
Pasonick was released on his own recognizance Friday and is scheduled to report to federal prison on April 23.
Pasonick’s engineering firm was for years the recipient of contracts from school districts and municipalities.
